This One's For You April
Hey all (or just April, who is likely the only one who will ever even look at this)!!
April handed me all the necessary details for getting back on the blog train (drop it like it's hot yo), so here I am. I am pleased to see that April gave Rent a little nod in her blog. I saw the same touring cast she did and it was AMAZING. If you have not seen RENT yet, you truly have not lived fully enough. Especially Roger in that cast. All I can say is this - who else can make horrible purple plaid pants and a baggy green shirt look that HOTT?? I'm not normally one for boys in nail polish but DAMN! So good. Plus he had a fantastic voice and coveyed just the right amount of anger and gentleness to play his part very convincingly. If any of y'all are keeping up with American Idol, you'll know Constantine, who just so happened to play Roger when I saw RENT with my awesome cousin Nate-o. Nate didn't like him so much, I dug, but this year's guy was way better. Too bad his band Sugardust supremely blow. Meh well that boy was made for Broadway anyway. Besides the fact that Roger was jump-worthy, I also completely and totally love the story contained in RENT. It has such a wide variety of characters and situations and the writing is absolutely genius. I think if I could have dinner with 10 people dead or living, Jonathan Larson would be right there with Jesus. RENT definitely has a place in my heart, and with good reason. SEE IT. Just trust me on that one. Oh, and for those of you who think you could 'never be a theatre person' a la Joannne, you'll be happy to know that a movie version is in the works with many of the original cast members. I only hope it doesn't royally suck and that they do this creative masterpiece justice. Ine question April . . . what's wrong with the trecaly ending (or whatever it is you said)? What does trecaly even mean??

Yay! I'm so touched.
Unfortunately this means that Graham will have to abandon his no-doubt elaborate plans to force you to post, but I'm sure he'll come up with something new.
That's a good question to put in the comment section on my blog. Comments - they're not just for Emily anymore.
In fact, if you ask it there, I will happily answer it with whatever amount of detail that strikes me as necessary.
P.S. Do you listen to Keane?
Okay, I just realized that "Rent" has moved off the first page, and I rarely, if ever, go back to check the archives for comments.
Spoiler Ahead!
Basically, it was too syrupy sweet for my tastes to have Mimi come back from the dead. I think it would have been a better plot development to have her die.
Not that I wanted her to die.
Oh, you know what I mean.
I don't know if it is blog etiquette (yeah I really don't know how to spell that word) to comment on the comments on your own blog...but I'm gonna do it anyway. April, I can see why you think Mimi coming back to life is kinda cheesy. However, have you ever known a musical (besides Les Miserable and Notre Dame De Paris) to NOT have a happy ending?? I am now noticing that they are both French...coincidence? I think not. Anyway, musicals are just meant to have happy endings. Besides, if Mimi dies than I would not think it would be the end of the musical, which would totally change the flavour of the whole thing, and then maybe Roger would rather die also...and it would be all bad. Anyway...yes. This is what I think.
Victor Hugo was depressed, okay? I did a whole ISU about it. Depressed. Plus it was the romantic period when he wrote, so he is in keeping with its style.
It is good blog etiquette to respond to your comment should you have something to say or add. Worry ye not.
I never said ALL musicals had to end happily, but MOST do (P.S., I mentioned Les Mis, d'uh). And I haven't seen Urinetown or Sweeney Todd or Bat Boy so I couldn't very well comment on them. LOL Nate I can't believe you'd even joke about hating Rent. That is sacrelig.
April - I have heard about Keane, they've been highly reccomended to me by my friend Kate, but I have yet to hear them.
nathan you are weird
Well, now they are highly recommended to you by two friends.
Word. Downloading some songs as we speak. Any reccommendations?
